The Strawberry Project
John Lennon, at the time of his death, was working on tracks for a second and third album (to follow on from Double Fantasy). The second album, released a few years after his death, was well advanced (prior to his death). But the third album in this comeback series was too incomplete to be considered for release.
Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to help (during the course of 2004) put together potential tracks which possibly could have made it onto this final album.
Ideally, we can enhance existing Lennon demos - eg 'Whatever Happened To?' and 'India'
In one case, we can possibly add in both John and Yoko's vocal takes on Everyman Has a Woman, onto the one track.
In a couple of cases, where the audio quality, and incomplete lyrics, take away from a demo, we can possibly use a haunting piano type instrumental. I am thinking here of two tracks especially - 'Mirror, Mirror' and 'Now & Then'
This is a fun project, a hobby. There is no financial gain involved. It is merely a group of creative Beatle/Lennon fans coming together from across the world and pursuing an interesting, and a pretty noble project.
I was quite amazed to recently read a quote from Paul McCartney, where he says that he had very little idea about John's unreleased material. Well, if this project works out, by the end of next year, we could even send a copy of the results to Sir Paul and Yoko.
